Enabling web push notifications on your storefront

How the opt-in prompt works, what customers see, and the platform limits worth knowing before you turn it on.

Web push reaches the people who never open email. It is a native notification on the customer's device, and it does not require installing anything.

Turning it on

  1. In your Shopify admin, open your theme customiser and enable the Repeatly app embed.
  2. In Repeatly, open Channels and switch Web Push on.
  3. Visit your own storefront, add something to the cart, and confirm the prompt appears.

When the prompt appears

Never on arrival. The prompt shows only after the visitor has demonstrated intent — they added something to the cart, they reached the thank-you page, or they are a returning customer with previous orders. It also waits a few seconds so it does not interrupt a page load.

Platform limits

Browsers permanently remember a rejection. If a visitor dismisses the browser's own permission dialog, Repeatly cannot ask again — which is exactly why the prompt waits for intent instead of firing immediately.

How customers unsubscribe

Every push notification includes an unsubscribe action, and the self-service page linked from your store lets them manage or stop reminders at any time. Removals are honoured immediately, and dead subscriptions are cleaned up automatically when a device stops responding.
